Accessibility design | User experience
The Proximus Group is a provider of digital services and communication in Belgium and the international markets. Digital accessibility audit was performed to meet the WCAG 2.1 level AAA and provided remediations for any issues found.
Proximus Group can champion digital inclusivity for all their website visitors by creating a system that ensures digital accessibility for visitors of varying abilities.
MY ROLE
I worked closely with a team of 4 others to audit the site for WCAG 2.1 level A, AA, AAA guidelines and provided remediations for the issues found.
Prepared a case study and audit report with all the findings and remedial actions recommended.
TIMELINE

APPROACH
Documented the flows, functionalities, and links to be audited of the platform.
Audited the platform against WCAG 2.1 Level AAA Success Criteria and WAI-ARIA tags implementation.
Evaluated ARIA tags implementation for all the pages.
Evaluated whether the platform works without sound, color, CSS, images.
Evaluated keyboard accessibility for all user journeys.
Evaluated the platform for various vision emulations.
MANUAL AUDIT CHECKS
The following checks were performed on the website:
Select all test:
Evaluated the press CMD+A on mac to select the all the elements in the interface, identify items not receiving selection and further investigate them for the issues and errors.
Tab key navigation test:
Navigated the website using the tab key to identify where the keyboard is getting trapped or skipping components, visible intact focus border is missing, and where all correct sequence flow isn’t followed.
Code examination and repair:
Evaluated and inspected the line of code using the browser developer’s tool to search for potential reason of issues identified in the method above and try to add missing accessible elements into code to check if working or not.
Media review:
All media present were checked for transcripts, captioning features and text alternatives.

Screen Reader:
NVDA – for Windows, Voice Over – for Mac.
WebAIM Contrast Checker
To check contrast ratio between foreground and background.
Browser – Inspect tool
To check code.
Keyboard
To interact and check the operability of keyboard on the application.
Web browser tools:
HTML validator, Wave toolbar and Light house.
